middle school

The middle school program is designed for rising 6th-8th grade boys and girls who want to elevate their track and field performance. As a preparatory program, our goal is to help young athletes develop a strong foundation that will set them up for success in high school and beyond.

We believe that all athletes, regardless of their future events, should build a base of solid running mechanics and speed development. Avoiding injury and burnout is critical at this stage, which is why we emphasize fundamentals, proper sprinting mechanics, and introduction to strength training to promote long-term development and resilience.

Regarding specific event focus, we will provide specialized coaching and training tailored to their chosen disciplines.

The middle school program runs three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and is offered in three seasons: summer, fall, and winter.

FAQs

  • Lipscomb Academy’s Football and Track Complex located at 1027 Caldwell Lane, Nashville, TN 37204

  • Girls and boys in rising 7th-12th grades who are excited to commit to Tennessee Track Club’s training philosophies and are eager to be the best that they can be.

  • Our club is for athletes who are committed to hard work and high standards. If you’re not interested in being coached or striving for improvement, this may not be the right fit. We welcome those who are passionate about growing and pushing their limits.

  • High school athletes are expected to commit for nine months, from June through the end of February. Meaningful improvement takes time, and consistent training is the best way to achieve lasting results.

  • Pricing varies based on the level of training (MS or HS) and commitment throughout the year. Costs include coaching fees, insurance, gear, meet registration, facility rental, food at meets, and travel expenses for out-of-town meets (high school athletes only– contact Anna for details on travel).

  • Middle school athletes will not travel to any meets in the summer at this time. We will host 1-2 intrasquad meets at Lipscomb that will have official times and marks that they will participate in. High school athletes will go to meets in the summer. Those athletes that qualify for outdoor nationals in mid-June will travel to Philadelphia. Everyone else will participate in the intrasquad meet/s.

  • This break aligns with the natural rhythm of the track and field calendar, even at the professional level. It also provides our year-around athletes with essential recovery time. Over the years, this period has proven vital in keeping athletes refreshed and excited as they head into the fall season.

  • After the indoor season is over, athletes will practice with their respective high school teams. We do, however, always welcome club members to come and practice at Lipscomb with the Lipscomb Academy team, especially if the athlete is not being coached in an event that they are expected to compete in. Practice location should be worked out between the athlete, and/or the athlete’s parents, and their high school coach.
